Sheriff: Man attacked with hatchet in rural north-central MN

A man is recovering after being attacked with a hatchet in north-central Minnesota.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office says the adult male victim was near the Oak Point area of Leech Lake just before 1 a.m. Saturday.

Law enforcement got a report of an assault with a weapon – when they arrived, they found he'd been attacked with a hatchet. The man was taken to Bemidji Sanford hospital for treatment.

Officers meanwhile searched the area for a suspect, but could not find anyone

The sheriff's office is investigating.
