Sheriff: If you see a dead bear on the road, don't stop to take a selfie with it

It's dangerous (and gross).

If you're driving along and come across a dead bear on the highway, just keep going. You don't need a selfie.

That might seem obvious, but according to some tweets by the Chisago County Sheriff's Office, some people felt getting a picture with a dead animal was super important.

The tweets say there was a dead bear on Highway 8 near Country Road 26 Tuesday morning. And apparently authorities kept getting calls about people who were stopping to take pictures.

Yeah. Don't do that.

First off: Unnecessarily stopping your car and getting out is dangerous.

Second: This whole thing is kind of gross.

At least no one (as far as we know ) has tried to give the animal CPR. As the Chisago County Sheriff's Office notes, that has happened before.

Earlier this year, someone hit a deer in the county. When officials arrived, they say they found the driver trying to resuscitate the animal. The sheriff's office advises against that, too.

GoMN has reached out to the sheriff's office for more information.
