The death of a 2-year-old boy in a rural area just northwest of the Twin Cities was apparently a drowning, the Hennepin County Sheriff's office says.
A brief statement released Tuesday evening says family members found the boy unresponsive in a holding pond near Corcoran at about 4:20 p.m.
Sheriff's deputies and Corcoran police responded but paramedics were unable to revive the boy.
Authorities say the medical examiner's office will release the boy's name and cause of death.
KSTP reported that when their crew arrived investigators were taking measurements of the length and depth of the pond.
