Sheriff's office investigates murder-suicide in Ramsey

The Anoka County Sheriff's Office says a man and a woman found dead in Ramsey Tuesday night is the result of a murder-suicide.

The Star Tribune reports officers were called to the home in the 8500 block of 176th Lane NW around 10:30 p.m. for a welfare check.

A concerned relative called Ramsey police after receiving an email with suicidal overtones, the Associated Press says.

Police found the bodies of the two in a bedroom, both with gunshot wounds to the head.

The sheriff's office says a 65-year-old man fatally shot a 67-year-old woman before shooting himself. Their identities have not been released.

Several cats were also found shot to the death.

The case remains under investigation.
