Wait, can it be?!?!
Actual fall-like weather in FALL...in MINNESOTA?!? It's happening, people. And YES, it's even coming on a weekend!
In the land where fall sometimes only lasts a few hours, Mother Nature is putting together two very nice days this weekend.
The forecast for the Twin Cities calls for highs in the lower 80s Saturday afternoon and the upper 70s on Sunday. Look for a very slight chance of spotty thunderstorms by suppertime Saturday, but nothing significant. Winds are going to be a bit strong. However, complaints should remain rather low.
As always, enjoy every millisecond of this weather while it lasts! Models are hinting at a brief, but attention-getting cool blast by the end of next week.
For now, though, we're getting a reminder of why we live here.
At MPR, Paul Huttner invokes an Old Milwaukee beer commercial: "It doesn't get any better than this."
KARE 11 calls it Summer in September
But this weekend may be even better than our summer was. On his Star Tribune blog, Paul Douglas says Chamber of Commerce weather in late September might be a reward after a summer that brought us June monsoons and an early frost.
If warm weather and sunshine aren't enough to get you outside, consider this: the fall colors are blooming big-time right now. We're getting great color around the Twin Cities, but conditions are at peak or near-peak throughout central and northern Minnesota.
Scope out the DNR's color map if you'll be hitting the road.
But even if you're hanging around the Twin Cities, there are plenty of spots to drink in the foliage. The Pioneer Press offers a list of some of the best.
Enjoy it, Minnesota!
