The Minneapolis-based company said its Solar Rewards program met its goal of adding six megawatts of solar-powered electricity to its system, and now it wants to devote more of its efforts to energy conservation.

With cash going fast, Xcel Energy is reviewing a rebate program that gives residential and commercial customers money back when they install solar power. Xcel is working now to gauge interest, study the changing economics of the solar market and get the pricing right. A smaller rebate could fund more installations but might deter many customers.
