Son charged for the alleged murders of mother, nephew
Twenty-two-year-old Ishmael Wilson Roberts was charged Wednesday afternoon for fatally stabbing his mother, 57-year-old Beatrice Wilson, and 14-year-old nephew in north Minneapolis, according to the Star Tribune.
The estranged son was charged with two counts of intentional second-degree murder. According to the complaint, Roberts has not been to the home in Minneapolis for about two years.
The Associated Press reports a witness awoke in the house early Monday and saw a man wearing a mask and dark clothing stabbing the woman. As he ran from the house to call 911, the witness says he heard the boy screaming.
Roberts was arrested in Waterloo, Iowa Tuesday after crashing the van he took from his mother's home.
Investigators tell the newspaper that officers found items of Roberts' clothing covered in blood in Waterloo.
FOX9 says Roberts ditched what police believe to be a samurai sword somewhere between the Twin Cities and Iowa.
