Son of Accent Signage owner to meet with other relatives of gun violence victims

Author:

The son of Accent Signage Systems owner Rueven Rahamim, who was among the six killed by a gunman in a Minneapolis workplace shooting in September, plans to meet Monday with relatives of other mass shootings and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, WCCO reports. Bloomberg, co-chair of Mayors Against Guns, is an advocate for more gun control, and he is urging President Barack Obama to press Congress for new laws.

Sami Rahamim, a high school student, will gather with survivors of shootings at a movie theater in Aurora, Colo., at a Sikh temple in suburban Milwaukee, at Virginia Tech, and in Arizona, where Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was seriously wounded.

Rahamim said other shootings bring his mind right back to Sept. 27, when a disgruntled worker killed his father, five others, and himself. “When is it going to end? Enough is enough is enough,” Rahamim told WCCO.

Workers at Accent have vowed to press on despite the tragedy.

The meeting comes in the wake of the shootings Friday in Connecticut, when a 20-year-old gunman killed 26 people, including 20 children at Newtown's Sandy Hook Elementary School.

President Barack Obama met with grieving parents and spoke at an interfaith prayer service Sunday, saying that the nation is "left with some hard questions" on how to curb gun violence.
