A 10th grader at Tartan High School in Oakdale was stabbed near school Friday afternoon, according to KSTP. The school was locked down for an hour about 3 p.m. School officials say it happened on the 600 block of Granada Avenue North as the boy was walking home from school.
A message on the School District 622 website says the boy was brought to school for emergency treatment while waiting for an ambulance.
KARE 11 reports police arrested a juvenile suspect a short time later. Officers say he had injuries consistent with handling a knife or sharp object.
A parent at the scene told the Pioneer Press the suspect was being treated for slashed fingers.
Oakdale Police Chief Bill Sullivan said he will ask for assault charges and that police are not looking for any additional suspects.
The boys' identities are not being released because of their ages. The victim is at Regions Hospital with what police say are non life-threatening injuries.
