St. Cloud 'suspicious object' destroyed; it was an explosive

A Crow Wing County bomb squad destroyed a suspicious object Saturday in St. Cloud.

The St. Cloud Times reports that St. Cloud police confirmed that the item did contain explosives. A section of 29th Avenue North was blocked off for hours as the object was removed.

KSTP-TV talked to St. Cloud resident Corey Gaulrapp, who discovered the item. He picked it up before realizing what it was. Gaulrapp described the object as heavy and white with a fuse.

Police are still investigating.

Earlier this week, a Coon Rapids man and a Montevideo man were both charged in unrelated incidents for possessing explosives.
