Charges have been filed against a St. Louis Park man accused of threatening a group of kids with an assault rifle on Halloween night, WCCO reports.

According to the criminal complaint, 44-year-old Orrin Hager thought the kids had stolen candy from one of his children and went to track the group down accompanied by his wife and two kids, the Patch reports.

Hager confronted the group and pulled out an AK-47 when none of them were taking him seriously, the complaint says. The kids ran off and notified the police.

The father later admitted to pulling out a gun, but his lawyer says he never pointed a gun at anyone. The unloaded rifle was confiscated by police.

Hager is charged with second-degree assault with a firearm, a felony.
