St. Peter police identify victims in murder-suicide

Investigators said Tuesday that a man and a woman found shot to death in a St. Peter apartment Monday evening is the result of a murder-suicide.

The Mankato Free Press reports 53-year-old Joel Bruce Reineke of Kasota shot and killed 48-year-old Jacquelyn Marie Johnson of St. Peter at 601 S. Front St. before turning the gun on himself, according to police.

St. Peter Police Chief Matt Peters tells the newspaper that the two dated each other in the past and the shooting may have been fueled by jealousy after Reineke saw Johnson with another man.
