2 stabbed at Mall of America's Macy's store

It apparently happened during a theft attempt.

An attempted theft turned violent at the Mall of America Sunday evening, leaving at least two people with stab wounds. 

The Bloomington Police Department said Sunday evening the stabbing happened at Macy's. One suspect is in custody.

The incident happened on the first floor in the Macy's men's department around 6:45 p.m., the Star Tribune says

According to KSTP, Bloomington police said the stabbing suspect tried to steal items from a shopper in a dressing room. A scuffle ensued when the thief was confronted, and that person was stabbed. 

FOX 9 says a family member was then stabbed trying to break it up. None of the injuries are life threatening.

One Twitter user recounted what they called "the scariest experience of my life."

The Macy's store is on the southwest corner of the mall, and is three floors.

Most of the stores at Mall of America close at 7 p.m.
