Stabbing at University of Texas: 1 killed, 3 hurt

It happened outside a campus gym.

One person was stabbed to death and at least three others were injured on a college campus in Texas.

The Statesman reports the stabbing happened outside a gym on the University of Texas at Austin campus around 1:45 p.m. Two people were stabbed – one of them died, university police tweeted. Another person was assaulted by the suspect.

The Statesman says three people were taken to the hospital with injuries.

Exactly what happened isn't clear. One Twitter user caught footage of the aftermath. And in photos on Twitter that appear to show the suspect being arrested, a large knife can be seen attached to the man's belt.

Witnesses told KXAN it looked like a bowie knife.

The university has canceled classes for the rest of the day.
