Start seeing helicopters: CapX2020 work on Hwy. 169 this week

Crews working from helicopters may cause delays along Hwy. 169 near Belle Plaine as construction continues on a major power line project.

The Associated Press reports helicopters will help string heavy-duty transmission lines this week as part of the CapX2020 project that runs from Brookings County, South Dakota to Dakota County in Minnesota.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation warns that state troopers will be on scene and may temporarily stop traffic. Work is expected to take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Aug. 12 through Aug. 16, KSTP said.

CapX2020 is a $2 billion initiative by transmission-owning utilities in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin to upgrade and expand the power grid.
