State Fair: Today's highlights

A trio of former “Saturday Night Live” comedians take the stage as the main entertainment attraction on opening night at the Minnesota State Fair Grandstand: Dana Carvey, Dennis Miller and Kevin Nealon.

Other highlights:

– Free beer samples! Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Co., 4-6 p.m., on Cooper south of the Bandshell.

– Free baking secrets revealed! Blue Ribbon Winners tell all at 10, 11:30 a.m., 1, 2:30 p.m., at the Creative Activities Building, Demonstration Stage.

– Lots of free swag. The Fair has a list of opening-day deals and long lists of free stuff, from keychains and tiaras to pet ID tags and candles.
