State Patrol investigating fatal hit-and-run of a child

An 11-year-old girl was killed in a hit-and-run yesterday in Aitkin County and the State Patrol is hoping to find the driver.

According to the State Patrol, the crash happened on Highway 18 near 240th Street just before 8 p.m. Friday evening.

The name of the child has not been released.

The driver and vehicle involved in the hit-and-run is unknown.

Investigators believe that the driver of a white Ford pickup pulling a white fifth-wheel camper who was in the area may have witnessed the crash and wish to speak to him or her.
