The online marketplace will allow consumers to comparison shop for health insurance coverage as part of the national health care overhaul. Beginning in 2014, most Americans will be required to have health insurance or face a tax penalty.
State officials predict at least 1 million Minnesotans will use the exchange, according to MPR.
A bill is on the fast track in the state Legislature and needs to be approved by the end of March in order for the exchange to open Oct. 1, or the federal government could impose its own model.
The explanatory site is designed to serve several groups including individuals, families, small businesses, insurance agents, brokers and health care providers.
