Gummybear is back home where he belongs.
Earlier this week, the Pioneer Press reported that the two-year-old shih tzu-poodle mix was taken from a SuperAmerica on Lexington Avenue when the owner tied him up outside before going into the gas station. Surveillance video showed a man taking the service dog, who helps his owner with her seizure disorder. The suspect took the dog off his leash, put him into the car's back seat and then drove away. The pet was wearing his traditional green service dog vest at the time he was taken.
In an e-mail to BringMeTheNews, Gummybear's owner, Katie Ryan wrote, "The police returned Gummybear to me this evening without much of where or how he got him back. But I have him back and I am the happiest woman alive!!"
She is sharing her good news on a Facebook page devoted to lost dogs.
