A GMC Yukon stolen in Brooklyn Center slammed into a Minneapolis house overnight following a high-speed police chase.
KSTP reports the owner of an SUV called police after the vehicle was stolen from a SuperAmerica gas station in Brooklyn Center. An officer spotted the stolen vehicle and pursued it, leading to a chase of speeds up to 80 mph that continued down Brooklyn Boulevard.
At around 1 a.m., the vehicle jumped the curb, crashed through a fence and proceeded to smash into a house at 47th Avenue North and Osseo Road.
The suspect and residents of the home were not injured in the close call, but police call damage to the home “substantial.” WCCO reports the suspect was taken into custody at the scene.
FOX 9 reported the resident of the home said it sounded like a cannon went off. At the time of the incident, his girlfriend was in the room where the car crashed.
Brooklyn Center police said the keys were left inside the stolen vehicle that was parked at the gas station.
Last week on a South Dakota highway, a semitrailer truck lost a set of dual wheels sprung loose and went flying from the road before smashing through a house near Rapid City. No one was home at the time and no one was injured in that incident.
