Stop the presses ... Moose Lake newspaper ends publication
A small town newspaper in northern Minnesota has published its last edition, the Pine Journal reports. After 30 years in business, the Arrowhead Leader in Moose Lake, Minn., abruptly closed its doors. Editor Lois Johnson says she was told the owner could no longer afford to publish the newspaper.
“I think there had been some ongoing issues. When you look at the big picture, there was simply no way to keep up. With the Star Gazette/Evergreen Shopper right across town, there just wasn’t enough advertising business to go around in a town this size. It’s hard to compete with a newspaper that has a shopper," Johnson said.
