Supervalu selects new CFO from OfficeMax


Supervalu's new executive vice president and chief financial officer is moving from the office to the kitchen.

The Pioneer Press reports Bruce Besanko, former CFO at retailer OfficeMax will join Supervalu, effective Aug. 7. He replaces Sherry Smith, who will leave Supervalu as CFO on Aug. 9. She held the position since 2010 and her resignation was announced in April.

Supervalu's new CEO Sam Duncan previously worked with Besanko when both were executives at OfficeMax. Besanko also was CFO at now-defunct Circuit City Stores. He was an executive at Best Buy earlier in his career.
