Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the homicide of an Austin, Minnesota, man whose body was found in the Cedar River last weekend.
Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi said a person is in custody on suspicion of second-degree murder, according to the Austin Daily Herald. She didn't release any more information about the circumstances of the arrest.
The body of David Madison, 39, was found by anglers Sunday morning in the Cedar River along Highway 105, about 10 feet from shore.
Authorities have not released his cause of death; however they have said they believe Madison was killed at another location and then his body was put into the river at least a day or two before he was found.
Investigators have determined that Madison was last seen between 10 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31 in downtown Austin, according to ABC 6 News.
Agents from the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension as well as local authorities investigated two houses in Austin on Thursday in connection with Madison's death, the Daily Herald reports.
The sheriff is expected to release more information about the case on Monday, ABC 6 News reports.
