Suspect arrested over fatal shooting in south Minneapolis, victim identified

A man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old in south Minneapolis on Wednesday afternoon.

Minneapolis Police spokesman John Elder has confirmed a 21-year-old was apprehended by officers on Friday. More details are expected to be released later.

It comes after the Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified 19-year-old Jordan Carson Adams as the victim in the shooting on the 2100 block of 3rd Avenue South.

The cause of death is a gunshot wound to the abdomen, and the manner of death has been determined a homicide, a news release notes.

The Minneapolis Police Department said officers were called to the scene just after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. Adams was transported to the Hennepin County Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Sarah Wondra, a resident of the apartment block where the shooting occurred, told the Star Tribune she heard arguing in one of the apartments, and police told her a bullet had pierced her kitchen wall and landed on her stove.

Anyone with information about the incident should text 847 411, entering MPD and the tip, or call the tipline at 612-692-8477

MPD announced last month it's bulking up its police presence of the south side of town after a slew of shootings last month, noting an increase of gun violence as the weather warms up.
