A suspect who led Minneapolis police on an intercity car chase ended with the driver escaping on foot – and leaving a loaded gun behind.
Minneapolis police say an officer tried to confront a driver "acting suspiciously" around 10 p.m. Thursday, on East River Road and 37th Street, in Northeast Minneapolis. But the suspect fled, leading the squad car on a chase into New Brighton.
At Spring Street and Silver Lake Road, the suspect pulled over and left the car, fleeing on foot.
Police "checked the area thoroughly," but could not find the suspect.
In the vehicle, officers discovered a loaded firearm and a bulletproof vest.
Police are investigating.
