The man charged with murdering two teenagers who broke into his Little Falls-area home is asking for reduced bail, the St. Cloud Times reports.

An attorney for 64-year-old Byron David Smith filed a motion to reduce his $2 million bail. A hearing has been scheduled for Monday.

Smith is accused of shooting and killing 18-year-old Haile Kifer and 17-year-old Nick Brady as they walked down his basement steps on Thanksgiving. According to the criminal complaint, Smith first wounded the teens, then fatally shot them.

Smith waited 24 hours with the bodies in his home before police were notified.

Morrison County authorities say Smith's actions go beyond self-defense.
