Suspect in Winona killing arrested hours after police issue alert

The suspect in a fatal shooting, who police warned was possibly armed and dangerous, is in custody.

Winona police put out an alert Thursday as they searched for 23-year-old Lonnie Lavonte Keymone Hudson.

He was a person of interest in a shooting on the 1200 block of Gilmore Avenue at 1:05 p.m. Sunday, in which police say two men entered an apartment belonging to 31-year-old Adam Fort, who was then fatally shot, according to WEAU.

The Rochester Post-Bulletin reports Hudson was arrested Thursday night after a short foot chase. He was taken into custody in Wausau, Wisconsin, the La Crosse Tribune reports, and he's being held in Marathon County jail until he's extradited back to Winona.

He has not been charged, but a warrant had been issued for his arrest.

An 18-year-old woman suspected of aiding Hudson has also been arrested, WCCO reports.

According to WXOW, police say they expect more arrests in connection with Fort's death.
