Police are searching for a suspect wanted in connection with a bottle attack at the University of Minnesota campus on Monday night.

An alert was issued on Tuesday after the aggravated assault at around 11 p.m. Monday at the Mayo Building on the East Bank campus.

The U says the victim – a staff member who works in facilities management – had asked the suspect to leave the building, only to be assaulted with a bottle.

The attack left the staffer with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect has not been named but is known to University of Minnesota Police given they released a previous booking photo of him.

He's described as a black man with shoulder-length dreadlocks, and is 6-6'1" tall.

He was wearing a stocking cap, tan jacket and khaki pants at the time.

The public has been warned not to approach him if they see him, but call 911 instead.

According to U of M police statistics, there was only 1 aggravated assault in the whole of 2017 on its Twin Cities campuses, and zero in 2016.
