A man was seriously injured when he got out of his car to move a recliner that had fallen off a truck on Interstate 35W Saturday afternoon.

According to the State Patrol's report, a Chevrolet Silverado lost a recliner from its trailer while driving down I-35W near County Road C in Roseville around 2 p.m. Saturday.

The recliner landed in the left lane of traffic.

Sakya Dama, 49, of Blaine, parked behind the recliner and got out of his car in an attempt to move the piece of furniture.

That's when a Chevrolet Trailblazer traveling at "freeway speeds" hit the right rear of Dama's vehicle, sending it into the median. Dama was also "thrown into the median," the report says.

Dama was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with a serious injury. A passenger in Dama's car and the driver of the Trailblazer both suffered non-life threatening injuries, the State Patrol's report notes.

The driver of the Silverado had pulled over farther north after losing the recliner. His vehicle wasn't involved in the crash and he wasn't injured.
