SW Minn. dairy plant to close, eliminating 130 jobs
Associated Milk Producers Inc., based in New Ulm, plans to shut down its manufacturing facility in Dawson by the end of the year, the West Central Tribune reports. The soon-to-be idled plant has about 130 workers and primarily produces cheese sauces and puddings.
"There are 11 other manufacturing plants and we'll be offering employment opportunities to Dawson plant employees for positions that may be open at those 11 other plants," AMPI communications director Sarah Schmidt told MPR.
AMPI recently sold its shelf-stable dairy products business to Bay Valley Foods, but the packaging facility in Dawson was not included in the deal.
