Sweet Christmas, this would have been cool.

Cheo Hodari Coker, the showrunner for the Marvel series Luke Cage on Netflix, added a plot device in order to entice Prince to make a cameo.

The character Pop, who is Luke Cage's mentor and was played by Frankie Faison, made visitors to his barber shop put money into the jar every time they swore.

This, Coker revealed on Twitter last week, was inspired by Prince, who was a devout Jehovah's Witness and who according to TheMarySue.com would keep his own swear jar at Paisley Park, reportedly charging guests $20 for every profanity.

Coker said he planned to show Prince the first two episodes of the show, which celebrates black culture in Harlem, New York City, in the hope he would make a musical cameo in the 13th.

If he'd made an appearance, he would have joined artists including Faith Evans, Method Man, Raphael Saadiq, Charles Bradley and The Dap Kings to feature in the show.

The Minneapolis music legend passed away on April 21.
