'Tan Mom' taken to detox after TSA incident at Minneapolis-St. Paul Int'l

The New Jersey woman who was vilified in social media as the "Tan Mom" last year was taken to detox after an alleged incident at Minneapolis-St. Paul International airport Thursday, KARE-TV reports.

Patricia Krentcil was taken to a Twin Cities detox facility after police responded the Delta ticket counter on a report of an intoxicated female, Metropolitan Airports Commission spokesman Pat Hogan told KARE 11.

Krentcil was branded the "Tan Mom" in the media after she charged with child endangerment last May after being accused of taking her 5-year-old to a tanning bed. The then-bronze-skinned Krentcil herself was criticized for what appeared to be excessive tanning practices.

The woman pleaded not guilty to the charges, which were dropped in February.

Celebrity gossip site TMZ reports that Krentcil had a layover at MSP and left the airport's secure area to smoke a cigarette. But when Krentcil attempted to return to the secure area, the Transportation Security Administration officers would not let her back in, and she "went ballistic," the site said.

TMZ said Krentcil was held in the detox facility for 30 hours.
