Target Canada donates $25,000 to train accident relief

Yahoo! Finance reports that Target Canada is donating $25,000 to the Canadian Red Cross to assist with relief efforts in Lac-Mégantic.

Police say 50 people are presumed dead following the fiery crash that incinerated the downtown area of the town in Quebec, making it Canada's worst railway crash in nearly 150 years. The 73-car freight grain was carrying oil from North Dakota at the time that it derailed.

The Minneapolis-based retailer is getting ready to open 20 new Target locations in Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia this month. Target aims to open a total of 124 new stores in Canada in 2013. So far this year the chain has opened 68.

The Canadian stores mark Target’s first stores outside of the U.S.
