Target has taken clown masks off the shelves

In response to the creepy clown phenomenon sweeping the country, Target has stopped selling clown masks.

If you're looking for a clown mask for your Halloween costume, you're not gonna find it at Target.

As the scary clown phenomenon continues to creep out the country, the Minnesota-based retailer confirmed with CBS and several other media sources that they've taken clown masks off the shelves.

As of Sunday night, there's still a few of the forbidden masks listed on the Target website, but a spokesperson told Kare 11 those will be taken down soon too.

Joshua Thomas, another Target spokesman, told the Star Tribune that he was not aware if there had been an increase in sales of the masks at the stores or online.

"It's a shame that a small number of people seem to be ruining a holiday that kids really enjoy," a Target worker told the Sun Chronicle.
