Target offering $200 store credit for first-gen iPads

Target is offering customers a $200 gift card for your first-generation iPad, as long as it works and the screen is clear.

Here are store details about the offer, good through Nov. 9. To get the deal, customers have to go to a Target with a "mobile" department – find those here.

The Minneapolis-based retailer is looking to make an upgrade awfully appealing to iPad users. The store is currently selling last year's iPad Mini for $299 with a $25 gift card with purchase.

The offer is good even on 3-year-old, first-generation iPads, which could net an owner $65 in a trade-in at other electronics websites and resellers, the Star Tribune notes. Auction sites like eBay only net sellers about $150 for old iPads, Time notes.

The offer is tied to Apple's recent debut of the iPad Air – and it comes on the heels of an iPad price cut by Target rival Walmart.

WalMart is offering a similar trade-in offer, too, PC Mag notes.
