Target pulls women's rain boots because of poor quality

The retailer has teamed up for a collection with British bootmaker Hunter.

Target announced to much fanfare last month a collaboration with the British rain boot maker Hunter, that last weekend saw more than 300 items hit store shelves.

But one item was missing, a line of women's tall rain boots produced for the Hunter for Target collaboration that the Minneapolis retailer announced would be delayed because of production issues.

On Friday, it revealed the boots have been scrapped altogether, saying "the production simply didn't meet our standards, Hunter's standards, or the standards we want guests to have when they shop at Target."

It's now working with another company to recycle the boots, though didn't specifically say what was wrong with them.

"While this collaboration has brought joy to millions of guests who have shopped it over the past week, the risk of further disappointing our guests is a risk we aren’t willing to take," Chief Merchandise Officer Mark Tritton said.

"Rest assured we’ll look into how this happened, and we’ll work hard to ensure it doesn’t happen again."

"We promise to do better next time," he added.
