Teen accidentally shoots younger brother in Minn. hunting accident

A 16-year-old Eveleth boy is recovering from a gunshot wound following a duck hunting accident early Saturday morning. Authorities say Baker Felix was accidentally shot in the knee when his 18-year-old brother's shotgun discharged as the brother fell backwards in the canoe they were hunting in.

A 16-year-old Eveleth boy is recovering from a gunshot wound following a duck hunting accident early Saturday morning, Northland's News Center reports.

Authorities say Baker Felix was accidentally shot in the knee by his 18-year-old brother, Bryten Felix. The brothers and another man, 18, were reportedly standing up in a canoe when Bryten Felix fell backwards, accidentally discharging his shotgun into Baker Felix's knee.

Waterfowl hunting season opened Saturday morning in Minnesota. About 80,000 were expected to turn out for this year's opener.

Meeker County Sheriff Jeff Norlin says the accident happened Thursday when a bullet from a black powder .44-caliber handgun reportedly ricocheted off the ground and struck the boy in the head.
