One of two teens who is charged in the fatal shooting of Nizzel George, 5, is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, KSTP reports. Seventeen-year-old Stephon Shannon is charged with aiding and abetting murder in connection with the June 26 death.

Meanwhile, an event to mark what would have been the 4th birthday of another boy, Terrell Mayes, amounted to a community rally for peace, the Star Tribune reports.

The boy was fatally shot when a stray bullet came through his home the day after last Christmas. “I’m afraid to come outside still, because you never know — a bullet don’t have no names,” said Ezra, Terrell Mayes' brother, WCCO reports:
