The White Bear Lake Area High School prom turned ugly when a fight broke out on the dance floor at the RiverCentre in St. Paul.

The Pioneer Press reports 18-year-old Dustin John Olson of Hugo was charged Thursday with making terroristic threats, a felony, and assault, a misdemeanor.

According to the criminal complaint, Olson approached a 17-year-old boy who was attending prom last Saturday with Olson's ex-girlfriend. Olson allegedly punched the boy four or five times in the head and ribs.

Police also obtained threatening Facebook messages from Olson to the 17-year-old weeks before prom.

The victim was treated at Fairview Lakes Medical Center and experienced headaches and dizziness for two days following the assault.
