Teen falls from 2nd floor balcony at Mall of America

A 17-year-old boy fell from the second level to the first level of the Mall of America Saturday afternoon, reportedly while doing a handstand on a railing, the Star Tribune reports.

The boy, from Minneapolis, was taken by ambulance to a hospital but apparently had only minor injuries, according to KSTP.

Mall security officers and paramedics rushed to help the teen as shoppers looked on, mall spokesman Dan Jasper said, according to the Star Tribune. He added that the boy was engaged in “horseplay” when he fell.

Rick Hart, Bloomington’s deputy police chief, said the boy's parents were at the mall, too, but were not with him when he fell.
