An Inver Grove Heights 16-year-old ran off a road in Eagan early Sunday and died after colliding with a Dakota Electric power line.
The Pioneer Press reports that the teen was ejected from the car. The impact of the crash caused a power outage, with Dakota Electric workers working early Sunday morning to repair the downed lines.
The Star Tribune quoted the utility, which said that the accident caused about 600 customers to lose power, with most restored by 3 a.m. and all but one customer back online by about 4:30 a.m.
The boy's name was withheld as his family was being notified, according to Eagan Police Sgt. Dan Mason. He said it was too early to know if distracted driving, alcohol or drugs were factors. Eagan police are investigating, the Minnesota State Patrol will recreate the scene.
