Medard Prosper lost his parents to the civil war in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2007 and then three of his siblings died in a refugee camp.

Edmund Sampare of St. Paul died during the battle on Sept. 17, 1862. The re-dedication of the grave will mark the last Civil War remembrance event in Minnesota this year to mark the 150th anniversary of the war.
