Teenage girl attacked, robbed at Bunker Hills Park

Police are looking for a suspect in the random assault and robbery of a 17-year-old girl in Andover Tuesday night.

KSTP reports the teen was with friends at Bunker Hills Park when she left the group around 5:15 p.m. As she was walking on a path in the north end of the park and checking her phone for text messages, she heard someone run up behind her.

The girl told police that she wasn't immediately concerned because the park is popular with joggers and she assumed it was someone coming down the path, according to ABC Newspapers.

The suspect dragged the girl into the woods and threatened to kill her if she screamed. She told police she was assaulted and robbed before the suspect ran off.

She was treated for her injuries at the hospital. Police say there is no evidence of a sexual assault.

The suspect is described as white man in his 30s, about 6 feet tall with a slender build. He has dark hair, an unshaven face and was seen wearing light-colored cargo pants and a T-shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division at 763-427-1212.
