An 18-year-old died overnight after his crashed car caught fire and he was unable to escape in time.
Minnesota State Patrol says the Oldsmobile Cutlass was northbound on Highway 55 between Barrett and Elbow Lake, in Grant County, at 3 a.m. when it went off the road.
The under brush and dry grass beneath the vehicle caught fire, setting the car alight.
The 18-year-old from Barrett, identified as Carter Overson, did not escape the vehicle in time.
According to his Facebook page, he was a student at West Central Area High School.
His friends have been paying tribute to him by posting on his Facebook.
"You were the best at keeping a smile on everyone’s face," Charlette Ann wrote, adding: "Life just won’t be the same with you."
