Minnesota high court won't hear Little Falls murder charge appeal

The Minnesota Supreme Court won't hear the appeal of a Little Falls-area man in the deaths of two teenagers who broke into his house on Thanksgiving Day in 2012. Byron Smith, 65, petitioned the state Supreme Court to review a Morrison County judge's decision to let his first-degree murder indictment stand.

4 Minnesota buildings likely to be added to national historic register

Four Minnesota buildings, including two in the Twin Cities, are likely headed for a spot on the National Register of Historic Places. Tuesday's winter storm kept some members of the State Review Board away from the meeting. A former custodian at Linwood Monroe Arts Plus School in St. Paul is accused of peeking at a boy in a toilet stall last month. Police on Thursday charged 62-year-old Walter J. Happel of Newport in the Feb. 20 incident, in which Happel reportedly looked both under and over the stall door and smiled at the boy as he used the toilet.

Body of woman missing for a month found near Minneapolis home

A woman who had been missing for about a month was found dead on Tuesday, a quarter mile from her Minneapolis home, police confirmed on Thursday. The body of 46-year-old Elle Sachs was found by walkers in Theodore Wirth Park near railroad tracks.
