2 arrested in State Fair craft beer booth armed robbery

Two people were arrested in connection with last month’s armed robbery at the Minnesota State Fair. A 20-year-old and 35-year-old, both of St. Paul, were taken into custody. Reports in the days following the robbery said at least two individuals stole about $10,000 from the Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild’s Land of 10,000 Beers exhibit after close on Aug. 29.

Anonymous complaint means memorial for crash victim must move

A memorial to a drunk driving victim in Wisconsin will be moved due to an anonymous complaint. The bronze plaque in Sun Prairie was erected in July at the site of the crash that killed 52-year-old Maureen Mengelt, who was jogging when a drunk driver hit her last year. The planned removal has incited controversy, but the state’s transportation department says such memorials must be taken down even if a single person complains. City officials are looking into a new location for the plaque.

Another problem strikes Vikings as Simpson faces new charges

More bad news for the Vikings as ESPN reports wide receiver Jerome Simpson violated the law again. The report says Simpson was cited for driving with a limited drivers license, marijuana possession and open bottle on a July 7 traffic stop in Bloomington. Simpson is currently serving a three-game suspension related to his drunken-driving arrest last November.
