The 'Best Food or Beverage' winner at the State Fair is ... a taco stand

The results are in and the best food on offer at this year's State Fair comes from San Felipe Tacos.

The eatery located in the Food Building took home the Great Minnesota Get-Together's "2015 Best Awards" in the coveted "Best Food or Beverage" category, according to a release from State Fair organizers.

Winners in eight categories were revealed on the International Bazaar stage on Thursday morning and received their awards courtesy of State Fair General Manager Jerry Hammer.

While every fair attendee will have their own personal favorite, some of the 1,100 vendors, exhibitors and concessionaires were put forward for the awards by organizers and superintendents, with these nominations then reviewed by a committee and winners selected.

Here is the list of winners:

Best Product or Service

Boys Adventure Store (Grandstand, upper level, east section)

Best Food or Beverage

San Felipe Tacos (Food building, east wall)

Best attraction

Bonanza Shooting Gallery (east side of Underwood St. between Wright and Dan Patch avenues)

Best Customer Service

Best Midway Ride

Best Midway Game

Best Kidway Ride

Monkey Maze

With four more full days of the State Fair still to go, there's still plenty of time to sample the best that this year's fair has to offer.

And WCCO reports plenty of people have been doing just that, with attendance figures at the half-way point putting it slightly ahead of the record-breaking numbers seen in 2014. Click here to see daily attendance numbers.

This is attributed to a strong showing over the first weekend, when 188,636 passed through the gates on Saturday and 179,724 on Sunday.
