The latest Dunkin' Donuts news: 15 more to open in Twin Cities

A local gas station and convenience store operator is planning to open 15 Dunkin' Donuts in the Twin Cities in the coming years.

Eliasco, LLC plans to open the doughnut-and-coffee shops in Apple Valley, Burnsville, Eagan, Lakeville, St. Paul, West St. Paul and Woodbury, Dunkin' Donuts said Tuesday. (Exact locations haven't been announced.)

The first restaurant under this deal is slated to open in 2018.

Massachusetts-based Dunkin’ Donuts is in the early stages of returning to the North Star State – it had been absent for nearly a decade, after the lone remaining Dunkies (located in Austin) shut down in 2005.

The popular chain came rolling back in about two years ago with the opening of a Rochester location. There are now Dunkin' Donuts shops in Duluth-Superior, and the company has plans to open dozens of locations across the Twin CitiesnorthernMinnesota and in Mankato.

The franchise agreement with Eliasco is the fourth and final agreement to be announced in the Twin Cities metro, the Business Journal says, noting franchisees have signed at least three leases in Andover, Roseville and New Hope.

"We are proud to join the other Dunkin' Donuts franchisees in expanding the brand's presence in the Minneapolis-St. Paul South Metro area," Elias Saman of Eliasco, LLC, said in the announcement.

Grant Benson, vice president of global franchising and business development with Dunkin' Donuts, says the new restaurants will "satisfy a growing consumer demand" for Dunkin' Donuts in Minnesota.
