'The Voice' auditions come to St. Paul this weekend, but please don't sing Adele

The NBC reality show that aims to make mere singers into stars, "The Voice," will be auditioning talent Saturday and Sunday at the St. Paul RiverCentre. Thousands are expected to flock there for their shot at fame.

The show's celebrity judges Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine will not be in St. Paul.

The show's casting director cautions singers to be creative in their choosing of a song. Judges have heard a lot of attempts at songs by Adele, she told the Pioneer Press.

A singer and songwriter from Eagan made it through the initial round of NBC's "The Voice" Monday night. Nicholas David Mrozinski, or Nicholas David on the show, performed Ben E. King's classic "Stand by Me" that piqued the interest of judge Cee Lo Green. Mronzinski is a regular performer at St. Paul's Happy Gnome and Palmer's Bar and Whisky Junction in Minneapolis and has released a series of albums.

St. Paul man looking for love on "The Bachelorette"

30-year-old Alessandro will be among 25 single contestants trying to win the heart of Emily Maynard on the upcoming ABC reality dating show. The eighth season kicks-off May 14. The Pioneer Press reports the local bachelor works as a grain merchant.
