There are plans for an Eden Prairie Hy-Vee store

Plans for another Twin Cities Hy-Vee are in the works.

The Eden Prairie Planning Commission meets Monday, and plans for a Hy-Vee convenience store are part of the agenda.

According to the agenda, there's a proposal to build a 7,900-square-foot Hy-Vee store at the intersection of Pioneer Trail and Hennepin Town Road in Eden Prairie.

There are about four acres of vacant land there, the Star Tribune reports.

The Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal says it would be the first stand-alone store of its kind in the Twin Cities.

There aren't a lot of details regarding the proposed store, but gas pumps and a drive-thru for coffee are in the plans.

The Iowa-based grocer has been rapidly expanding throughout Minnesota.

The first Twin Cities stores opened last September. According to the website's store locator, there are currently four in the Twin Cities.

A fifth is set to open in Eagan on Tuesday, according to its Facebook page. Then there will be about 22 locations across the state.

Last month, Hy-Vee paused plans for a Robbinsdale location. The city council there voted to tear down a 1950s theater to make room for the store.

Even so, the grocer decided to put plans on hold for a while because it didn't want to be responsible for the destruction of the historic theater.
